With Great Knowledge comes Great Responsibility
“But you will receive power when Holy Spirit comes on you;
and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem,
and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
Acts 1:8 (NKJV)
Power, knowledge and responsibility seem to be terms and concepts that are synonymous with each other in our culture. We have all heard the common expression,’With great power comes great responsibility’ there is much truth in this common expression but also much truth can be found in the statement ‘With great knowledge comes great responsibility’. The reason why these words are synonymous is that knowledge is powerful and thus it provides and holds great power. There is much truth in both of these expressions. There must be great responsibility taken when possessing such great knowledge and power. We as Christians who are followers and disciples of Jesus Christ have been given the greatest gift and message of all the ages and for all eternity. As receivers of this beyond description great truth, gift and message all we have been asked to do is to spread and share this great knowledge and message with the fallen, unsaved and dying world around us.
The message that all believers have received as followers and disciples of Jesus Christ is the greatest message of all the ages past, present and future. A story that gives knowledge of God the Father, the creator and maker of the heavens and the earth. A story that provides truth of Jesus Christ, God’s only son and our Lord. A story that tells of Jesus who left the right of his father, being conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. His story continues with Jesus coming to earth to be as us human only to suffer under Ponticus Pilate, to be crucified, died and buried. Yet the story does not end there it goes on to give knowledge of Christ resurrection and rising form the dead on the third day. Jesus returned to his father by ascending into heaven and now seats at the mighty right hand of the Father. In this story it goes on to give knowledge of the future that Jesus will return again to judge equally the living and the dead. Thus we as believers, Christ disciples and followers believe in this story of our Lord and Savior. We believe in the Holy Spirit, holy church, the common of saints/our brothers and sisters in Christ, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. All believers in Christ Jesus say Amen! The message of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, our faith and Christianity tells a story of an undying and unconditional love with the Creator and His Creation.The message and story of Jesus Christ is a story of power, truth, love, peace, joy, hope, healing, ultimate sacrifice, salvation, redemption, mercy, grace and forgiveness. It is the greatest story of all the ages that has ever been told and known by mankind.
Messages are intended and meant to be given, received and to provide truth and knowledge to the recipient even more so with a great and powerful message. If someone possessed a message that would provide the cure to AIDS, Parkinson disease, Alzheimers /Dementia and or Cancer among others they should and would spread it for all to hear to know. If an individual had a message that could end all war and bring in or usher in world peace they would and should announce to all to be heard and known. We as believers and disciples of Christ are no different for we have knowledge of and been given an even greater and more powerful message. The knowledge and message that we have is the answer that holds the key to everything for everyone. This is the message and story of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. How can we as His disciples not go out, share and spread the news, truth and knowledge of the His message. How can we not spread the powerful truth of His love, joy, peace, hope and healing touch. How can we not tell everyone and the world of the message of His grace, mercy, forgiveness, redemption, and salvation. We are ourselves have been given the knowledge, light and truth of the story and message of Jesus. Thus for that alone we must go into the darkened, fallen and dying world and be the light that shares the powerful knowledge we have of the true answer that is Jesus and His message of truth, love, mercy, grace, forgiveness, redemption and salvation. Moreover as followers and disciples of Christ we are compelled to go out and go fishing to be fisher of men for we have been given the Great Commission. (Matthew 28:16 – 18).
Though we as disciples and followers of Jesus Christ have been given a true calling to share the powerful knowledge of Jesus Christ how could we not share Jesus with the world. How could we not want to embrace our great responsibility passionately desiring to spread and share the great knowledge of the story of Jesus and His message of truth, love, joy, peace, healing, grace, mercy, forgiveness, redemption and salvation. How could we hide the light of Jesus. How could we not be the light until the darkened world. Let us go out and share with all this message of powerful truth and knowledge. Lets us accept the Great Commission that we have be given by the greatest fisher of men’s hearts and souls. Let us fully and completely zealously embrace our great responsibility that comes with great knowledge by being fisher of the hearts and souls of men as disciples and followers of our Lord and Savior.
